Our client, located in Brussels and easily reachable in public transports, is currently looking for a Freelance Senior DBA (H/F) to reinforce their teams.

Our client, a leader in its market located in the center of Brussels, but above all a modern company with beautiful values, is currently looking to reinforce its team by hiring a Senior DBA (H/F).

Your main tasks will be:

– To design, set up, manage, and improve the AWS cloud-based data services 
– To maintain MS SQL databases on premise (optimization, DRP…)
– To choose the right data model and Database engine for the right purpose (OLAP / OLTP)
– To analyze and propose solutions to help the IT team to achieve its goals

Day-to-day tasks will include:

– Design, setup, configuration, support, and maintenance of database services in the AWS environment (including but not limited to DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Redshift, Aurora, ElasticSearch)
– MS SQL optimization and maintenance. (DRP, Restore…)
– Automation of AWS environment deployment via scripting (Infra as a code) using version-control
– Creation and update accurate system documentation
– Follow-up of technical problems with our business units, developers, external partners, and providers

Profile

– 8+ years of experience as a DBA hands-on. (Design, model, Implementation)
– Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (required), French or Dutch is an asset
– Strong technical writing skills in English to provide the teams with clear and efficient documentation
– Willingness to work as a team member with a flexible attitude and in an organized way
– Respecting and following procedures
– Strong focus on delivering projects on time
– Ability to organize your work among several priorities
– High affinity with public cloud environments (Certifications on AWS is a plus)
– Ability to work in an Agile environment
– Willingness to learn new technologies and to face challenges

Technical Skills

– Expert in configuring and managing Relational Database Management Systems (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL): Trigger, Stored Procedure…
– Strong experience with AWS data cloud services (DynamoDB, Redshift, ElasticSearch, Glue)
– Good experience with the GIT version-control system
– Experience with analysis of Data Modeling using Merise, UML
– Experience in teaching DB related topics is a plus
– Experience in High Load and Database Reliability is a plus
– Knowledge of SSIS and ETL tools is a plus
